OSFC Funding News:

Recently, we learned the wonderful news from the OSFC that Midview has available a $22 million credit to build a new school building. One of the main questions we’ve heard since then is: “If you have all this money from the OSFC, do you still need levy money from Issue 39?”

The answer is Yes. These are two separate funding areas requiring two separate “pots” of money, and monies from each are purposed exclusively for the items listed below:

bullet Money from the OSFC can only be used for new construction of school buildings. Nothing else.

bullet Issue 39 is a Permanent Improvement levy which can only be used to purchase items with a lifespan of 5 years or more: items such as textbooks, classroom technology, and school buses.

Think of it. If Issue 39 does NOT PASS in November, the Board must make an additional $1 million in cuts. Since the district is already working bare bones budget, those cuts will have to come from things which will affect the educational program: things like teachers, tutors, and programs which are the heart of what we do.

What good is a new school building without these things???
That is why it is absolutely essential that Issue 39 pass in November.
And we need your help.

Tues., November 4: Vote FOR Midview Schools
While our students are accomplishing great things in and out of the classroom, our district is facing difficult struggles financially that threaten to hurt the quality of education.
The district has been fiscally responsible and has cut more than one million dollars over the past two years, and Midview has one of the lowest costs per pupil in the county.
The Midview Schools are asking voters to approve a 2.5 permanent improvement issue that will stave off difficult cuts and allow us to keep the programs, teachers and technology our kids need to succeed.
Without more funds, the district will need to cut an additional million dollars from the already bare bones budget.
What’s at stake:

bullet Teachers
bullet Programs like tutoring that help students who are struggling
bullet Technology
bullet Not replacing text books that are more than 15 years old.
Those cuts would devastate our schools and would impact our community.
We are asking for the minimum amount needed this November. The Midview Schools have made real progress and this issue keeps us from sliding backwards. We need your support on November 4th.
